Orange Halloween nails hit different when October rolls around.
Orange polish makes you feel bold in a way your usual nude manicure never could. Plus it goes with basically every Halloween costume you can think of.
I’ve been obsessing over these designs I keep finding on Instagram and the talent some of these nail artists have just floors me (there are links to their Insta accounts so you can follow them).
These photos I’ve collected show exactly why I spend way too much time scrolling through nail art hashtags.
Orange Gradient Halloween Nails

Orange gradients that actually look intentional instead of muddy are an art form. A friend tried recreating this look and texted me photos every hour asking if her ghosts looked more like clouds or actual spirits. They looked like clouds, but I didn’t have the heart to tell her.
Keep It Simple, Keep It Perfect

Sometimes the most obvious choice is the right choice. Each pumpkin face is slightly different, which shows the artist’s skill. The orange is that perfect Halloween shade that looks like actual pumpkins.
Purple and Orange Ghost Party Nail

The purple threw me off at first because I’m so used to seeing orange with black. But actually the purple base makes the orange pumpkins glow differently than they would on black and they look more fun.
The Classic That Never Gets Old

I keep coming back to this black and orange combo. It’s fun, it has cute ghosts and it’s colorful!
When Stripes Actually Work

Normally I’m not a stripes person, but these orange and black ones have me reconsidering. The solid orange nails keep it from being too busy. What gets me is those tiny details the artist added on the orange base. You have to look close to see them, which I love. It’s like a secret for people who actually pay attention.
The Show-Off Design

This one makes my head spin in the best way. Spider webs, tiny Halloween characters, what looks like little pumpkins all crammed onto clear nails. The artist must have the steadiest hands on the planet. I’d probably mess this up in about five minutes, but I can’t stop staring at it. This is for someone who wants their nails to be the costume.
Actually Wearable Halloween Nails

Sometimes you want Halloween nails that won’t get you weird looks at the grocery store. These orange French tips with tiny pumpkins hit that sweet spot. The pumpkins are so small they’re almost abstract. I could see wearing these through November without feeling silly.

Glitter Done Right

I usually avoid glitter because removing it is torture, but this mix of gold sparkle and orange might be worth the acetone nightmare. The text painted on the nails is genius. I can’t quite make out what it says, but it adds this personal touch that makes the whole design feel intentional instead of just pretty.
The Romantic Halloween Look

Pink and orange together sounds wrong until you see it like this. The ghosts mixed with what looks like tiny flowers creates this weird fairy tale Halloween vibe. It’s spooky but make it pretty. I’d pair this with a witch costume that’s more Practical Magic than Wizard of Oz.
Orange and Black Halloween Nails

The classic color combo for Halloween nails, but bold and fun with that bright orange and the moons and stars in black. If you want something fun that’s still clearly Halloween, this is a perfect nail design for your October.

Halloween Nails with Ghosts and Pumpkins

These clear base nails with tiny Halloween characters are so cute (the ghost on the thumb reminds me of the Pacman ghosts). I’ve tried this translucent approach three times now and it’s trickier than it looks.
Orange and Black Halloween Nails with Black and Skeleton Cat

These Halloween nails in orange and black really grab attention, I love them. They’re perfect if you want to go full Halloween mode, with that bright, glossy orange.
Those little details of the black cat and the skeleton cat on the thumbs are perfect. You could tone it down a bit by painting the rest of the nails all black, or if you love bold colors like I do, paint them that same bright orange to be the sensation of Halloween. A set of orange gel nail polish gets you that glossy finish easily.

Orange and Black Halloween Contrast

This combination never fails me. I keep coming back to it every October because it just works. That black glitter nail catches light in a way that makes your whole hand look more interesting. The little pumpkin detail is so small you almost miss it, which makes it feel intentional instead of trying too hard. I recommend this if you work somewhere that frowns on obvious Halloween nails but you still want to participate.
Pink and Orange Hello Kitty Halloween Nails

These Hello Kitty almond nails are more on the fun side, with cobwebs, a Hello Kitty with her pumpkin, but also little hearts with stitches and tiny stars, a really pretty take on pink and orange nails.
Cute and delicate, the kind you could wear to school or the office and they won’t be “too much,” but they definitely won’t go unnoticed either, you’ll probably get a compliment or two.

Coral Ghost Halloween Manicure

This manicure reminds me of Halloween decorations from the 1950s, all cute and innocent before everything got scary and gory. Coral orange hits different than regular pumpkin orange. It’s warmer somehow, less aggressive. These white ghosts have actual expressions painted on them, which takes serious skill. I tried doing ghost faces once and they all looked like sad blobs.
Orange Halloween Nail Designs with Mixed Elements

Pretty orange and hot pink nail with different designs. I love when nail artists do this instead of repeating the same design five times. The clear base lets each element shine without competing for attention. I think this took patience I definitely don’t have and looks so cool.
Black and Orange Halloween Nails with Pumpkin Pattern

Those tiny orange pumpkins on the black base look like they’re glowing from within. I attempted this pattern last Halloween using a dotting tool and quickly realized why nail artists charge what they do. The precision required to make each pumpkin look intentional instead of like orange polka dots is real skill. The black makes everything pop in a way that surprises people.

Orange Fall Nails with Glitter Ghost Accents

Glitter ghosts sound ridiculous until you see them catching light like this. The solid orange base keeps it grounded while those sparkly spirits add just enough magic. I wore glitter nails to a Halloween party once and spent the next week finding glitter in places I didn’t know existed. Worth it though, because they photograph beautifully in dim party lighting.
Orange Halloween Nails with Pumpkins Details

Sometimes simple wins. These pumpkin details on an orange base nail the autumn vibe. It’s a cute fall design that can work for the whole month of October and not only just Halloween weekend. Plus short nails are so comfortable.

Halloween Nails Black and Orange with Dramatic Length

These coffin-shaped nails take Halloween seriously. Each nail has its own personality with spider webs, stripes, and different motifs. I can’t function with nails this long, but I admire people who can type, open cans, and live their lives with what are basically tiny Halloween billboards attached to their fingers. The drama is the whole point.
Cute Halloween Nails with Simple Pumpkin Art

These natural-toned nails with their perfect little orange pumpkins prove you don’t need drama to celebrate Halloween. The golden stems are such a thoughtful detail.

Tips For The Best Orange Halloween Nails
If you’re not sure about getting full orange nails start with one accent nail and see how you like it.
If you are not sure which orange shade to use, think of how it will go with your skin. Coral orange works beautifully on cooler skin. And true pumpkin orange complements warmer skin tones.
Most of these designs work on short nails too, despite what Instagram might make you think. The ghost faces, tiny pumpkins, and spider details actually show up better on shorter nails because everything isn’t stretched out.
If you’re planning to DIY any of these looks, invest in good detail brushes. Painting tiny ghosts with regular polish brushes just won’t work. Nail art pens also work for beginners who want clean lines without the frustration.
