OMG, girls, you won’t believe the most amazing DIY cat treats that I do! Being the total cat mom and always looking for ways to spoil my fur baby but, of course, keeping it healthy, I came across this great recipe that has somewhat changed the game.

You know how we are all trying to be more conscious about what goes into our food? Well, I started thinking, wasn’t it time we did the same for our kitties? That’s when these absolutely adorable Sweet Potato & Catnip Treats came along, chef’s kiss perfect.

Here’s the tea on why these treats are literally everything:

First, they are vegan, meaning super-friendly for even the most sensitive pets, and with everyday ingredients that most likely you’ve already had in your pantry: sweet potato-you know, those superfoods!-oat flour to keep things gluten-free for our sensitive babies, and of course a pinch of catnip; let’s be honest, we spoil our babies in every way possible! Alright, let me walk you through this super-easy recipe to make you officially the best cat parent in the world.

Some cat treats and a jar with oats powder.

Sweet Potato & Catnip Vegan Cat Treats

What You’ll Need:

  • 1/2 cup mashed sweet potato-I just pop it in the microwave, we love a time-saving hack!
  • 1 cup oat flour-pro tip: if you don’t have oat flour, blend regular oats!
  • 1/4 cup powdered catnip-trust me on this one
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil
  • 1-2 Tablespoons water-only if needed

The How-To:

Okay, heat that oven to 350°F-basic baking temperature, we’ve got this!
Mix it all together until it looks like cookie dough.
Roll out-just like those holiday cookies we all pretend we’re good at making-cut in small shapes. I use a bottle cap because who really has little cutters? Bake 15-20 minutes until golden.

For real, though-these treats are so jammed with goodness that your cat’s vet will be proud. Sweet potatoes are chock-full of fiber and vitamins-um, yes, cats need those too!-and oats are amazing for sensitive tummies. And don’t even get me started on catnip; it’s literally nature’s stress relief for our furry friends!

Another fun fact that blew my mind was that only 50-70% of cats respond to catnip. If your little one is not interested, take it easy-that’s literally in their genes. Mine absolutely goes crazy for it, turning into a completely different cat for about 15 minutes-and honestly, it’s the best entertainment ever.

These are good in the fridge for a week, but let’s get real-they never last that long in my house! My cat basically camps out by the treat container now, giving me those “pretty please” eyes we all know too well.

Quick disclaimer for all my fellow pet mamas: remember to introduce any new treats slowly-even if they’re made with wholesome ingredients. We know how dramatic our kitties can get about new stuff!

P.S. It makes for an adorable mini gift for your cat-mom friends too. Just sayin’! ????
