I love making cute cat drawings with a kawaii touch because they’re so easy and they always turn out adorable.
If you don’t know what kawaii means, it’s basically the Japanese word for cute, and it implies that specific cute Japanese cartoon-like drawing style. These drawings have that super sweet, adorable style that makes you go ‘aww’!
You can use these simple drawings everywhere: in your journal, on letters to friends, in your sketchbook when you’re bored, or even on Valentine’s Day cards.
They’re perfect if you’re just starting to draw a cat or if you want some quick cute doodles to brighten up whatever you’re working on.

And speaking of things cats love to do… Here’s a kawaii-style drawing of a cat sitting inside a box, their other favorite activity.

Cat on a Laptop
This is another thing cats enjoy most. I feel so identified with this cute drawing of a cat lying on a laptop…

Cat Sleeping
Here’s a simple and easy drawing of one of the things cats do most during the day.

Here’s another cartoon cat drawing sleeping.

And in this drawing the cat is just resting… or is it also taking a nap?

For a little bit of tenderness, draw this kitty with a heart balloon.

If you want to practice in your sketchbook or decorate your diary, here’s a cute and funny idea for a drawing that represents very well what life with cats is like during the early morning hours… A masterpiece titled “Cat sleeping on girl’s head.”

Here’s another cute doodle of a sweet scene of a cat giving love to a girl who’s resting.

My cat is the king of my world and this cute drawing represents that.

Cat Looking at the Stars
This cat outline is very simple to make. For the stars, just paint little circles and thick crosses toward the central part.

Cat in a Garden
This cat seems a bit more complicated to make, but it actually only has a few lines. What makes it seem more complex are those eyes, but you just need to make some thick ovals and don’t forget the two little balls that indicate the shine to achieve it.

Cat with Rainbow
And to finish, this silhouette of a cat looking at the rainbow, which would look nice to decorate a letter or as a doodle adorning a notebook.

Tips for Making a Kawaii Cat Drawing
- If you’re not sure how to draw the eyes, two downward curves are perfect for getting you out of trouble and giving it that typical touch of cute and kawaii drawings.
- If you look closely, how you draw the whiskers also affects how kawaii the cat looks. Often the drawing looks better if you don’t stick the whiskers too close to the nose but more toward the edge of the face.
- Three whiskers on each side are enough.
- If you draw the mouth very close to the nose, the cat looks cuter than if you move it further away.
